Everybody wants Hyderabad. Not just because it is the bustling IT hub with a population of over 8.6 million , but a symbol of lay back culture of Nizams , a true mascot of the resurgence of the Muslims and the Hindu youth and finally a Boom city for Gen-next work culture . And thus it is rightly the major bone of contention between the champions for Telangana statehood and status quo seekers.
If Telangana gives me peace at night , good ISPs, cheal homes and good Biraynis as before, I don’t care where i live or whether it is Telangana or Andhra ‘ says Dev Parvathaneni , a software project manager at a multinational company. You will find thousands of such Devdans who just wish Hyderabad became a busybody like Mumbai as it has all ingredients of vice, waywardness , money ,muscle, yearning for bloody and gory happenings across the road every day .

Hyderabad is home to about 700 IT and ITES companies including global giants like Microsoft, Google, IBM, Oracle, DELL, Motorola and Deloitte. Though Hyderabad is part of the Telangana region, it has, since the days of the NIzams i.e for over 400 years attained the sobriquet “Mini India”, attracting people from all over India like Maharastra, Karnataka and more particularly from the other two regions of the State—Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra. About 40 percent of the city’s population is migrants. Hyderabad is one of the fastest growing cities in the country, ranking fourth in the country in terms of software exports, IT and software prom otions since 1995 has catapulted the otherwise – Irani chai, Osmania biscuit and Biryani town into a bustling city of bee hive activity with record 3.75 software engineers and another 22 lakh supportive staff working in the industry . generating a revenue of over Rs.60,000 crore in IT exports and e-buiness initiatives .
There are also fears over the safety for huge investments made by Seemandhra settlers over years , like the Lanco group-, GVK group, GRM group etc The future of Hyderabad’s status has become a prime concern for people of all the three regions. Making the city a common capital will pose huge administrative challenges. Almost 65 per cent of Andhra Pradesh government’s revenues are generated in Hyderabad. Also,70 per cent of the Union government’s revenues from AP are collected from Hyderabad metropolitan area. AP generated a revenue of Rs.76,000 crore of which nearly 55,000 crore went for salaries, perks of ministers, Governor etc leaving hardly Rs.21,000 crore for the welfare and development activities.
Basically investors, industrialists and also politicians have been developing Hyderabad as mascot of industrial, educational and research empire in India . Its malls, entertainment and recreation facilities , housing , transport and catering systems have all made the city into a future city and destination of youth and jobless . ‘Hyderabad has grown from a 275 sq. kms city into 6000 sq.km conglomerate over last 30 years and naturally anyone does not like to give up their legacy of their own ‘ says Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan , the evangelist against corruption and campaigner for good governance and citizens rights.
