Army recruitment rally in ‘T’


The Indian Army will recruit about 1,500 personals from Telangana. ‘Army recruitment rally’ is scheduled to be held from August 1 to August 10 at Hakimpet Sports School.Candidates who pass physical and medical examination are eligible for a written test to apply for any of the four categories which include soldier technical, soldier clerk, soldier general duty and soldier tradesman.The age limit for eligible candidates is from 17-year-and-a half years to 23-years. However there is relaxation for aspirants from tribal background, those who hold NCC ‘C’ certificate and children of ex-servicemen.

5 buried alive at Pulichintala dam

Five workers were killed at Pulichintala dam site including a contractor at GENCO hydroelectric power station.The workers were constructing a retention wall against mud hillocks.The mud hillocks have absorbed rain water and collapsed burying all the five workers alive.Those who were present at the spot rushed to their rescue but it was too late. Measures are on to ensure ex-gratia to the families.

Cops tough against Drunken driving

Cops-tough-againstBeware drunken drivers; cops are on high-alert. Andhra Pradesh DGP J. V.Ramudu directed police officials and field level officers to set up check posts at every 50 km to keep drunken driving in check.He told them to be more vigilant after 12 a.m. till 5 a.m. Police officers equipped with breath analysers will be posted on State as well as National highways to check on drunken driving to avoid road accidents.

Man gets lifer for killing wife, kids

A 46-year-old Indian man who was extradited to US from India to face charges of triple murder was awarded life sentence without parole.The convict Lakshminivasa Nerusu had killed his wife and two children in 2008, by slitting their throats with a kitchen knife.The defence’s plea that he was mentally unstable at the time of murders was rejected. Nerusu had a heated argument with wife, Jayalakshmi, on the day of killings. In a fit of rage he stabbed her 59 times before slitting her throat. He then killed his daughter,Tejasvi 14, the moment she arrived from school and waited for son Shiva Kumar, 12.On his arrival he stabbed him and fled to Hyderabad the next day. He was caught in 2013 and extradited to US to face the trial.

A face lift to dalit colonies

In a pilot project Ranga Reddy disctrict collector N. Sridhar is planning to modernize one Dalit colony in every mandal. One Dalit colony will be identified in each mandal and modernisation works will take up in healthcare, infrastructure and education by December. He also said that Panchayat funds will be utilised to appoint a watchman, sweeper and scavenger in each school.
