Of Clean liness, Encroachment and Piracy

Private schools asked to fall in line
Hyderabad district administration has served notices to around 770 schools for not disclosing their fee structure. It also asked school managements whose fee structure exceeds the set limit, to justify their high fee structures.The officials will display the fee structures outside the school and if there is any difference in the fee particulars displayed and the actual fee paid then parents can file a complaint with District Education Officer. It had earlier directed unrecognised schools to apply for recognition but 118 schools failed to do so. Several unrecognized schools are closed down. Students who are already admitted in such schools will have to shift to other recognised schools. This duty is assigned to Deputy educational officers.

CM wants ‘clean city’

In a bid to make Hyderabad cleaner, CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao directed the GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar to arrange more dumping grounds around Hyderabad. In a meeting with senior GHMC officers he asked them to set up 10 to 15 dumping yards in and around the city. He also said that the garbage can be used to generate power that can be used to provide power for street lights. The CM also cautioned the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply & Sewerage Board to keep Gandipet and Himayatsagar tank clean to ensure hygienic drinking water.

Bizarre Town

Children in Bodiganiguntha of Nellore town are found to be addicted to drugs like whitener and they play amidst corpses.There are around 300 families in that locality which is surrounded by garbage dump yards. They feed on food thrown for dead bodies. There are no Anganwadis and health care centres. Children are mostly malnourished. The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) has asked Nellore district administration to shift all the families. They don’t even have a ration card or aadhar card.

GHMC on demolition spree

The GHMC officials are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to razing down illegal properties in Ayyappa Society.The officials have decided to take up a survey and marking of Full Tank Level (FTL) based on the allegations that some of the constructions including that of N convention centre owned by actor Akkineni Nagarjuna came up on the lake bed. It was found that around three acres of tank bed FTL is encroached by the actor.

Nagarjuna filed a writ petition challenging the action of authorities. The actor maintained that he was not given any notice. Justice A. Rajasekhar Reddy, of Hyderabad High court directed the authorities to maintain status-quo.The corporation is issuing fresh notices to 700 illegal constructions that came up on Gurukul Trust Land.They have sealed around 33 illegal constructions and also painted red colour on such properties to caution citizens from purchasing them.
Piracy

New ration cards in ‘T’

In a bid to raze down bogus ration cards Telangana government is considering the issuance of new ration cards. Civil supplies department are surprised to at the existence of higher number of ration cards than the households. To keep bogus cards in check information technology will be utilised to issue new ration cards.

Signal piracy

A gang of four persons including a cable operator and three of his accomplices were arrested for illegally broadcasting Indian channels in foreign countries. They have customers in Saudi Arabia and USA. According to the reports the accused are downloading channels and broadcasted these channels to foreign countries through internet causing losses to the managements of TV channels. They were reported to be shifting their base to different parts of the country in order to evade police. This signal piracy was taking place for the past six to seven years.
