The Workout: As the fitness fad increases all over the world, gyms are mushrooming literally over the landscape. People are hitting these gyms with gusto and also taking to other activities like jogging, swimming, aerobics, etc. This is great for them as well as the nations on as a whole. Because a fitter person is generally more productive. One common thing for all these fitness enthusiasts seems to be their passion for listening to music while working out. Go to a park, a gym, by the beach and you will know exactly what it means. Why Music and workout are hand in glove?
- Encouragement: Music gives you good vibes and the beats only make you move and work out harder. So anyone who needs encouragement to workout will carry their iPod, Walkman, Cell phone, etc.
- Focus: Have you ever noticed people working out in groups? Usually they spend a lot of time in idle gossip and a little time in exercising. The reason is that it would be too impolite to ignore people who are talking to you! Music brings an end to this as the person is happily cut-off from the neighbour. This increases their focus of the workout.
- Passion: Well, some people are very passionate about music. Listening to the latest songs is their hobby, time pass, way of being tuned in, etc. So, they then combine the workout with music and voila! Have the perfect cocktail. The workout does not seem drudgery anymore. It is the best example of a win-win for most.
- Synergy: Music and Workouts go hand in hand. The reason is that there are different kinds of music for different kinds of workouts. If you are doing Yoga, you might be better off listening to yogic chants and hymns as they bring clarity to your thoughts and postures. If you are into cardio, listening to a peppy Latino track might just be the trick! If you want to pound the treadmill for an hour, you might be a “rock and roll” fan. There is a plenty of choice and a great deal of synergy between music and workout
- Ease of availability: Finally, music is easily available anywhere and everywhere. If you are in a park for a walk, carry an iPod, a Walkman and with a mobile phone you can either listen to recorded hits, or FM radios. If you are in gym, there is most likely to be a good audio system with great music to keep you going! Playing music is very easy and economical and it is the perfect add on for a good workout session.
Music is generally a stress reliever and when you combine with an activity that releases good hormones, the feel-good effect is multiplied several times over. It only takes an hour to feel like a totally different, motivated and happy individual.
So, the question that you need to ask yourself is, if you have the right audio equipment and material for your next workout?
